Hooray for new Cayra version with parameters!

We have implemented a feature of adding parameters to a node.
Now every node can have date, time, text, numeric and boolean parameters assigned to it.
E.g. it'll be useful to add "Date and time" parameter for a meeting

One of the key parameters is hyperlink. We hope it'll be a pleasant surprise for people who have asked for this feature and anticipated it ;-)
Happy New Year everyone!

Parameters

One "parameter" to consider having is a multivalued parameter such as would occur in a list and linked lists.

In medicine where I work this is especially an issue. We work with multivalued lists such as the Problem List, Medication List, Allergy List....etc.

In medical workflow, as in a doctor's office, one of the goals is prevention. The need for doing a particular preventive medicine intervention in the office can itself be forecast by recursing though these multivalued lists. For example, a person on a particular medication and having a particular problem might need special patient education instruction. So a list to list recursion versus a practice standard of If this DRUG is being taken AND this PROBLEM exists, THEN educate the patient with THIS EDUCATION.

As I view your product it could give primary care teams (consisting of a physician, medical assistant, community health worker and nurse (if afforable)) the opportunity to interact with a mind map that assembles during the workflow of the visit of the patient based on the above.

Hope you do consider multivalued variables and an API with a functional programming language like lisp that will programmatically support the above. You will then have a product that EVERY medical team will want to have.

Wow, those are awesome

Wow, those are awesome features I've been longing for!! Thanks, Cayra team!

You're very welcome! :-)

You're very welcome! :-)

Limitations in Parameters

Unfortunately Parameters don't work for Windows Internet Shortcut files - and they do not work for URL's that are not either file:/// or http://.

For example I store all my documents, web pages, emails etc in a product called UltraRecall. It has the capability to copy internal URL's (URI's) to its internal Items - and them paste those in other applications as hyperlinks. When you click on an UltraRecall hyperlink pasted into most other windows applications - just like a web or file url it naviagtes to the specific Item in UltraRecall. Unfortunately these UltraRecall hyperlinks do not work when pasted into Cayra. There is a similar problem with OneNote and any other applications that provide these types of hyperlinks..

Here is an example of an UltraRecall hyperlink:

ur://E:/My%20Documents%20(E)/UltraRecall/Getting%20Things%20Done.urd?item=4576

I hope this can be fixed as soon as possible.

Re: Limitations in Parameters

Thanks, we have filed a bug.

no way to filter a map using Parameters!

wow - there's no way (yet?) to filter a map based on Topic Parameters.

I would want to see the ability to construct potentially complex filters using boolean type expressions e.g.:
[ date is (value range)
and
Priority is (value) ]
or
[ Date is (value range)
and
icon is (select icon) ]

without the ability to constrain the map display based on Parameters, there's not much point having them (other than the hyperlinks)...

I am hoping, even assuming this is in the development plan?

Thanks

Yes, filtering & search

Yes, filtering & search through parameters is in the development plan.

And there is a point of having parameters without filtering - as you might have noticed, they offer you a possibility to add important information that can either be shown or not on the node.
